Health & Safety
Groundworks is the highest-risk stage of most projects — deep excavations, live services, heavy plant and concrete all happening in the same footprint. Rayco Civils manages that with qualified operatives, written method statements, insured works and plant that is checked before it is used.
Qualified operatives
Site operatives hold Safe Pass, and machine operators hold CSCS cards for the plant they run. Nobody works a machine they are not carded for.
RAMS for every activity
Risk Assessments and Method Statements are prepared for the activities on each site — excavation, lifting, concrete pours, working near services — and issued before work starts.
Insured works
Public Liability and Employer's Liability insurance is in place. Certificates are supplied to clients and main contractors on request.
Services & excavation control
Service drawings are reviewed, routes scanned and hand-dug where needed. Excavation edges are protected, spoil set back, and deeper trenches battered or supported before entry.
Plant checks & maintenance
Machines are checked before use, defects reported and dealt with, and plant is kept serviced so it is safe and reliable on site.
Working under a main contractor
On main-contractor sites we work to the site-specific safety plan, attend inductions and briefings, and issue documentation into the contractor's system.
Safety Questions
Are Rayco Civils operatives Safe Pass and CSCS qualified?
Yes. Operatives hold Safe Pass, and plant operators hold the relevant CSCS cards for the machines they work.
Do you provide RAMS before starting on site?
Yes. Works are delivered under Risk Assessments and Method Statements covering the activities on that site, issued before work begins.
Is Rayco Civils insured?
Yes. Rayco Civils carries Public Liability and Employer's Liability insurance. Current certificates can be supplied to clients and main contractors on request.
How is excavation safety managed?
Excavations are planned around ground conditions and service locations: services are scanned and hand-dug where required, edges are protected, spoil is set back from the excavation, and deeper trenches are battered or supported before anyone enters.
