How we work

Our Process

Groundworks either releases the rest of the build on time or holds it up. This is the sequence Rayco Civils works to on residential, commercial, industrial and agricultural sites across Ireland — from first enquiry through to handover of a build-ready platform.

1. Enquiry

You send drawings, a specification or simply a description of the site. We confirm what is in scope, what stage the site is at and what access is like.

2. Site visit

Where the job warrants it we walk the site to check ground conditions, levels, access for plant, service routes and where spoil and materials can be stored.

3. Quotation

You receive a written breakdown by work element — clearance, excavation, fill, foundations, drainage, ducting, concrete, roads — so the price can be read against the drawings.

4. Programme & documentation

Start date, sequence and durations are agreed. RAMS and insurance documentation are issued before mobilisation, and into the main contractor's system where one is in place.

5. Setting out

Levels and lines are set out from the engineer's and architect's drawings, and datum points are established so formation levels can be checked as the dig progresses.

6. Excavation & earthworks

Site strip, bulk and reduced-level dig, cut and fill balancing, rock breaking where needed, engineered fill placed and compacted in layers.

7. Foundations & concrete

Strip, raft or pad foundations set out, reinforced, inspected, then cast with certified ready-mix and vibrated. Slabs and hard standings follow the same sequence.

8. Drainage & ducting

Foul, storm and surface-water runs laid to correct fall on proper bedding, manholes and gullies built, utility ducts installed, draw pits set and routes recorded.

9. Roads, kerbing & finishes

Sub-base and formation, kerbing to line and level, footpaths, car parks and yards prepared for surfacing or finished in concrete.

10. Inspection & handover

Levels, falls and finishes checked with the engineer, as-built information handed over for certification, site left clean and released to the follow-on trades.

Process Questions

How do I get a quote from Rayco Civils?

Send your drawings or a description of the site and works to info@rayco-group.com, or call 087 919 2193. We confirm scope, visit the site where needed, and issue a written quotation broken down by work element.

Do you work from engineer's drawings?

Yes. Setting out, formation levels, reinforcement and foundation details are taken from the engineer's and architect's drawings, and works are left ready for inspection.

Can you work as a subcontractor to a main contractor?

Yes. We work directly for clients and as a civils subcontractor to main contractors, working to the site-specific safety plan and programme.

Do you provide as-built information?

Yes. Drainage and ducting routes are recorded so as-built information can be handed over for certification.
