Infrastructure is built to be adopted
On schemes intended for taking in charge, roads, drainage and services have to be built and recorded to the local authority's standards, not simply to a workable finish. Layer thicknesses, compaction, pipe materials, manhole details and cover levels are all specified.
We record levels, materials and as-built routes as the work proceeds so the certification pack exists at completion rather than being reconstructed afterwards.
Sequencing services under future surfaces
Deep drainage goes in first, then shallower services and ducting, then the road build-up. Anything installed after a surface is closed means cutting and reinstating it, which is both slower and a permanent weak point in the road.
For that reason duct routes, draw pits and connection points are agreed with the utility providers and the engineer before the sub-base goes down.
