Excavation Contractors in Ireland

Excavation contractors dig and remove ground to a designed level: bulk and reduced-level excavation, foundation and drainage trenches, basement and tank digs, rock breaking where required, plus cart-away of spoil and engineered backfill.

Overview

Excavation is measured work, not just digging. Depth, batter, support, spoil handling and reinstatement all form part of a properly priced excavation package.

Rayco Civils is a civil engineering and groundworks contractor based in Monamolin, Co. Wexford, working on sites across Ireland. Send drawings or a site location and we will price the works.

Scope of works

Bulk and reduced-level excavation
Foundation, trench and drainage excavation
Tank, chamber and attenuation digs
Rock breaking and removal of hard material
Cart-away of spoil and unsuitable material
Engineered backfill and compaction

Deep digs and excavation safety

Excavations are the highest-risk activity on most sites. Battering, benching or proprietary trench support is used according to depth and ground type, edge protection and access are provided, and services are located before breaking ground.

Spoil, reuse and cart-away

Material is assessed as it comes out. Suitable arisings are reused on site for fill and landscaping; unsuitable material is loaded and removed. Reducing cart-away volume is usually the single biggest cost saving available on an excavation package.

Rock and hard ground

Where rock is met, it is broken out with hydraulic breakers and removed or crushed for reuse depending on the specification. Rock is flagged to the client as soon as it is encountered because it changes both programme and cost.

Frequently asked questions

Do you locate underground services before excavating?

Yes. Available service drawings are reviewed and the area is scanned before breaking ground, with hand digging used around known service routes.

Can you excavate on restricted-access sites?

Yes, machine sizes are selected to suit the access available. Send photos of the entrance and working area and we will confirm what can be used.
