Level platforms and load-bearing formation
A commercial floor slab is only as good as the material under it. Formation is proof rolled, granular fill is placed and compacted in layers, and any soft spots are dug out and replaced rather than bridged over.
Where the site slopes, cut and fill is balanced on site wherever the material is suitable, which reduces both import and cart-away costs.
External works that carry commercial traffic
Yards and access roads on commercial sites see loaded HGVs, forklifts and repeated turning. Build-ups are designed for that loading, with kerb restraint, drainage falls set away from doors and gullies positioned to keep surface water off working areas.
Car parks, footpaths and pedestrian routes are set out at the same time so the finished site works for staff, deliveries and customers.
Drainage, attenuation and planning conditions
Storm water discharge is often the tightest condition on a commercial planning permission. Attenuation tanks, flow controls, permeable surfacing and interceptors are installed to the drainage engineer's design, tested and recorded.
Foul connections, pump chambers where levels require them, and separation from storm systems are all handled within the same package.
