Site Preparation Contractors in Ireland

Site preparation is the work carried out before construction begins: clearing vegetation and obstructions, stripping topsoil, excavating to formation level, importing and compacting fill, and forming temporary access and welfare areas so the build can start.

Overview

A site that is properly prepared saves money on every trade that follows. A site that is not becomes a sequence of delays around standing water, soft ground and access problems.

Rayco Civils is a civil engineering and groundworks contractor based in Monamolin, Co. Wexford, working on sites across Ireland. Send drawings or a site location and we will price the works.

Scope of works

Vegetation clearance, hedgerow and scrub removal
Topsoil strip and stockpiling for later reuse
Demolition arisings and obstruction removal
Excavation to formation and cart-away of unsuitable material
Stone fill, compaction and build-ready platform
Temporary haul roads, entrances and compound areas

Clearance and enabling works

Clearance takes the site back to workable ground: vegetation, root mass, old foundations, redundant surfaces and buried obstructions. Material is segregated on site where it can be reused or recycled, which reduces disposal volumes.

Access, welfare and compound

Temporary access is part of site preparation, not an afterthought. Entrances, haul roads and hard standing for deliveries and welfare are formed early so heavy loads are not driven across formation that later needs to be rebuilt.

Water control from day one

Irish sites take rain. Cut-off drains, temporary falls and settlement controls keep surface water off working areas and stop clean ground being turned into a remediation job.

Frequently asked questions

How long does site preparation take?

It depends entirely on area, ground conditions, the amount of material to be removed and access. We give a programme with the quotation once the site has been walked or drawings reviewed.

Can topsoil be reused on the site?

Usually yes. Topsoil is stripped and stockpiled separately so it can be reused for landscaping and verges instead of being carted away and re-imported.
