What is land clearance?
Land clearance brings overgrown or unused ground back into use: scrub and heavy vegetation are cut and removed, trees and hedgerows taken out where permitted, old fencing, foundations and structures broken out, and the ground graded and left workable. When can hedgerows and scrub be cleared in Ireland?
Hedge cutting and burning of vegetation are restricted during the bird nesting season under wildlife legislation, with limited exceptions. Clearance should be programmed around those dates, and protected trees or hedgerows checked against planning conditions.
What is done with cleared vegetation?
Vegetation is removed to a licensed facility, or chipped and re-used where that suits the site. Burning on site is subject to legal restriction and is not a default option.
Can you clear land with old structures on it?
Yes. Old sheds, fencing, concrete bases and hardstanding can be broken out and removed as part of the clearance, with structural demolition handled by our sister company Rayco Demolition.
Will the ground be usable straight after clearance?
Clearance leaves the ground graded and workable, but wet or rutted ground may need drainage, stone or regrading before it carries traffic or is built on.
